You may have noticed that SHU-IZMZ RADIO took a wee break from broadcasting here and streaming at CORE OF DESTRUCTION RADIO. I could say that I was hella busy, or I can just chalk it up to pure laziness–which it was. I decided to get off of my ass and interview a friend of mine who has started up a business of making masks for those who really dig horror films and things that go bump in the night! Myself a big fan of slasher films and horror films of all sub-genres, I thought it would be a great idea to jump back into radio broadcasting/podcasting with an interview with a dude whom I have known for a couple of years now, meeting him for the first time when he was working for the circus. Yeah, I know someone who worked in the circus. That itself is fucking cool! (more…)
Actor, Director, Cameraman, Editor, and Producer MICHAEL LEE STEVER so graciously had a chance to talk with Shu about several of his latest freelance film projects such as SATURDAY NIGHTMARES: The Ultimate Horror Expo of All Time! (2010), RESURRECTING CARRIE (2012), and most recently, a short film on actress Jan Broberg entitled JAN BROBERG’S GUIDE TO THESPIANS, SOCIOPATHS, & SCREAM QUEENS! To check out the video, head over (more…)
This week on SHU-IZMZ RADIO, your host Shu really just talked about a couple of films he watched over the weekend with his pals, FIX (The Ministry Movie) (2011), HATCHET II (2010), and HUMAN CENTIPEDE 2 (Full Sequence) (2011). Don’t worry, I tossed on some cool tracks from Ministry to get one in (more…)
Another episode of SHU-IZMZ RADIO at CORE OF DESTRUCTION RADIO is upon the readers of SHU-IZMZ! I have been working really hard at getting unique and driven individuals in the indie horror scene to spill their GUTS on my show. This week I was able to talk again with actor, writer, and producer (more…)
What better way to spend a day some call the day of rest, but most of us pagans and non-church attending atheists like to spend it hanging around the house and relaxing. Those that have to work, I guess you will have to use your smart phones to listen to SHU-IZMZ RADIO (or SZ for short) at CORE OF DESTRUCTION RADIO (or CODR for short) via this mobile app: SHOUTCAST.
If anyone was wondering who the new (more…)
This colossal episode of SHU-IZMZ RADIO on CORE OF DESTRUCTION RADIO will blow your minds! Shu lets listeners learn of a fantastic new documentary on the culture of VHS collecting called ADJUST YOUR TRACKING (2013), as well as play the entire TOY HUNTER panel at C2E2 with Jordan Hembrough. SHU-IZMZ has known of Dave Kosanke, head honcho of his very own zine entitled LIQUID CHEESE FANZINE, for quite some years now, but only just last year actually bothered to pick up an issue (ISSUE #33) at Flashback Weekend a few months ago when Dave was working at the Synapse Films booth selling dvds from Synapse, as well as his zine. After hanging with him at a mutual friend’s (Jon Kitley of KITLEY’S KRYPT) parties on Halloween and various horror peeps engagements, I felt it was high time I had let listeners (more…)
Last week I had the chance to finally sit down with a good friend, a mentor if you will, from the Midwest Horror Community: JON KITLEY. Jon runs his own website, Kitley’s Krypt, as well as having a column of the same name in HorrorHound Magazine. You also may have run into (more…)
In this episode of SHU-IZMZ RADIO on CORE OF DESTRUCTION RADIO I talk about all the craziness going on this month on the convention scene, as well as some upcoming events. I talk about some of the books I have been reading, movies I have been viewing, and some news. Also, the entire John Carpenter (HALLOWEEN, THE THING) Q&A from Flashback Weekend in Chicago, as well as the Q&A with Meg Foster (THEY LIVE, LORDS OF SALEM). (more…)
DAVID GREGORY, most famous for being a very talented and visionary director of many featurettes and documentaries included on some of the most important films in the horror, cult, and exploitation genres such as TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE: THE SHOCKING TRUTH (2000), THE SPAGHETTI WEST (2005), and THE GODFATHERS OF MONDO (2003), had a chance to talk with SHU-IZMZ RADIO about his latest artistic endeavors of creating a horror anthology modeled after the Theatre Guignol entitled THE THEATRE BIZARRE. Gregory directed the short entitled “SWEETS“, as well as being the creative talent behind the genesis of the whole project and organizing it. Gregory tells Shu all about the film and the filmmaking process behind it, as well as how he divides up his time between making feature films (as he did with directing PLAGUE TOWN) and running SEVERIN FILMS. (more…)
Shu and Bryan Layne talk about STREET TRASH, GOON, CABIN IN THE WOODS, and THE AVENGERS. Who is Bryan Layne, you ask? Well, aside from being a very good friend and fellow writer, Bryan writes for quite a few websites and publications, both in print form and on the internet such as FILMS IN REVIEW, GUTMUNCHERS.com , BOG-GOB Magazine, and Nashville Scene. Raised in Memphis,TN, lived in Nashville, TN, and now living in Marion County—the dude is one Southerner who knows his movies. I had the pleasure of having him on the show to pick his brain (instead of picking my nose, ass, and balls) one night. Listen to the interview and find out what movies are good, bad, and everything in between. But remember, don’t take our word for it because everyone has different tastes and we account for a very small percentage of the world population.

Here is the download link to SHU-IZMZ RADIO Episode #4 on CORE OF DESTRUCTION RADIO. Producer Zach Green of Fatal Pictures took the time to chat with me about his upcoming horror short film FAMILIAR, directed by Richard Powell. Of course, as fate would have it, there was some technical difficulty (my cell phone went insane) around the 3 minute mark and I had to call back in so keep listening because not only do myself and Zach talk about his short film we decide to talk about Chicago, its crime, politics, and some other films. Also, find out how little I actually know about gun laws. As always, ANYTHING goes on the SHU-IZMZ RADIO show! (more…)
