OW3 CDShark attack films are in full-effect now that THE SHALLOWS did pretty good last year (Personally, I loved the film but I love most flicks shark-related!) and 47 METERS DOWN is

garnering a lot of buzz and doing pretty good I hear, having made about just over 33.2 million domestic and foreign box office combined on a film whose budget was just around $5 million, made back that budget raking in $4.5 million the first day of its release. I have yet to see it, but it looks awesome and those that have seen that I have spoken with dug it. Plus, Matthew Modine is in it and he is pretty cool. Oh yeah, and sharks, which I adore.

Now we have a 3rd installment to the sharksploitation genre with another OPEN WATER film, OPEN WATER 3: CAGE DIVE (2017) coming to theaters in August from Lionsgate. I want to be very optimistic, but the director Gerald Rascionato has only directed a few shorts and a t.v. movie 5 years ago in Australia about a reality game show mimicking other reality game shows, none of which appear to be anywhere close to this type of movie although this IS a found footage shark film in which the plot revolves around the filming of a reality show featuring contestants in a shark cage….So I guess it has a some linear connotations for the two plots.

The project after this flick appears to be another short. Hopefully the full-length feature experience did not rattle him too much. We may be as fucked as the characters in this bleak outlook on man vs. shark but I am remaining optimistic. The trailer looks fucking good and hopefully the film won’t be a bore. I have high hopes for it. I even like boring and really bad shark flicks just because I love any movie that has a shark in it just for having a shark in it. I am biased as hell.

Three friends from California head to the rugged Australian coast for a cage-dive encounter with deadly Great Whites. But after attracting a swarm of vicious sharks, their tour boat is destroyed by a massive rogue wave. As clouds gather and darkness descends, the friends find themselves alone and defenseless, afloat in the chilly ocean as hungry man-eaters begin to circle. With little hope of rescue, they must fight to survive using only their courage.”

Check out the trailer below. Enjoy sharkheads!

Something else I heard is that we may be in for a sequel to DEEP BLUE SEA??? Oh, that would be quite awesome! I am tired of the SHARKNADO sequels (on the 5th one now, right?), but I could deal with a DEEP BLUE SEA 2 (even if it’s only a SyFy Channel release)maybe even Samuel L. Jackson’s character miraculously survived. He could have, right???!?!?!
